PERSONAL STUDY [1:44]

1.Avengers Endgame broke box-office records at an unprecedented pace, making $1 billion worldwide in its opening weekend. Endgame is not only popular in America but it is the biggest Hollywood movie in China ever, making over $600 million over there.

2. A real-life Iron Man suit would cost approximately $110,302,000. The Arc Reactor would cost $36,000,000. Gold-titanium Exoskeleton Suit is estimated to cost $15,000,000. The wearable computer that’s controlled vi-a Jarvis and the holographic heads up display in the helmet, just the computer system is estimated to cost $1,020,000. *For article, click HERE

3. In the pre-existence when we got the news that we’d be receiving a body, we shouted for joy! *See Job 38:7

4. Susan W. Tanner, former general president of the Young Women, once said:

Why were we so excited? We understood eternal truths about our bodies. We knew that our bodies would be in the image of God. We knew that our bodies would house our spirits. We also understood that our bodies would be subject to pain, illness, disabilities, and temptation. But we were willing, even eager, to accept these challenges because we knew that only with spirit and element inseparably connected could we progress to become like our Heavenly Father and “receive a fulness of joy.” *For full talk, click HERE

5. She is referring to a scripture found in D&C 93:33 where it states that you have to have the spirit and body together in order to one day receive a fulness of joy.

6. Joseph Smith taught:

The great principle of happiness consists in having a body. The Devil has no body, and herein is his punishment” (The Words of Joseph Smith, ed. Andrew F. Ehat and Lyndon W. Cook [1980], 60).

7. Susan W. Tanner goes on to teach us that:

Satan learned these same eternal truths about the body, and yet his punishment is that he does not have one. Therefore, he tries to do everything he can to get us to abuse or misuse this precious gift. He has filled the world with lies and deceptions about the body. He tempts many to defile this great gift of the body through unchastity, immodesty, self-indulgence, and addictions. He seduces some to despise their bodies; others he tempts to worship their bodies. In either case, he entices the world to regard the body merely as an object.” *For full talk, click HERE

8. Elder David A. Bednar has also commented on this when he said:

Because a physical body is so central to the Father’s plan of happiness and our spiritual development, we should not be surprised that Lucifer seeks to frustrate our progression by tempting us to use our bodies improperly (“Things as They Really Are,” Ensign, June 2010, 18).

9. Jeffrey R. Holland has said:

As the Apostle Paul wrote, we were “bought with a price”. What an expensive price and what a merciful purchase! (“This Do in Remembrance of Me,” Ensign, Nov. 1995, 67)

10. 1 Peter chapter 1 (verse 18-19) “Ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…but with the precious blood of Christ.”

11. Joseph Fielding Smith taught:

We are told that we are unprofitable servants, and so we are, if we think of trying to pay our Savior back for what he has done for us, for that we never can do; and we cannot by any number of acts, or a full life of faithful service, place our Savior in our debt.

12. 1 Cor. 6:19 it reads:

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

13. Jeffrey R. Holland has said:

The purchase price for our fullness of joy – body and spirit eternally united – is the pure and innocent blood of the Savior of the world. We cannot then say in ignorance or defiance, “Well, it’s my life’ or worse yet, ‘It’s my body.” It is not. “Ye are not your own,” Paul said. “Ye are bought with a price.” So in answer to the question, “Why does God care so much about sexual transgression?” it is partly because of the precious gift offered by and through his Only Begotten Son to redeem the souls – bodies and spirits – we too often share and abuse in such cheap and tawdry ways. (Jeffrey R. Holland and Patricia T. Holland, On Earth As It Is in Heaven [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1989], 187-188.)

TEACHING TIP [23:42]

Being Consistent

The compound effect is the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small actions or choices. The idea behind The Compound Effect is that small consistent action over a long period of time has greater payoffs than intensely large actions in a short period of time. For instance, you’ll reap greater rewards in the end by consistently eating healthy for a long period of time rather than going to drastic measures to quickly lose 10 lbs in 10 days.

Which this principle goes along with what we are taught in ALMA 37:6 by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

In Darren Hardy’s book, The Compound Effect, he states that “5 months isn’t enough to see real decline or improvement. Only 18 months-2 years do effects start showing up.”

My point being, maybe you’ve been doing your best to do Come Follow Me with your family but you feel you haven’t seen any major life-changing results. I have no doubt you have probably had immediate blessings- but maybe nothing you’d call life-changing. All I can say is… Wait for it! You have the principle of compound effect on your side. Give it time. Remember it takes 18 months to 2 years for the effects to start showing up. Some of those huge effects could be your son or daughter choosing to serve a mission, or your children being married in the temple, maybe the effects will be that someone joins the church just because of the great example you set in your every day of living the gospel. Just remember, by small and simple things do GREAT things come to past.
